Notes |
- A William Dixon (19) was enumerated with an Elizabeth Dixon (60) in the 1850 Person Co. census. They were next door to Lewis Eastwood’s family that included a 4 yr old Jerusha Eastwood. Her middle name was Frances and she was enumerated with that name in later censuses.
In 1860 Person Co., William Dixon (25) was enumerated with Elizabeth Dixon (still 60). They were next door to a Mary Dixon (39), Martha Dixon (31), James Dixon (10) and Emily Dixon (3).

Rebecca Ragan (35) was enumerated in the household of William T. Dixon (36) in the 1870 Person Co. census with a mulatto child Charles Ragan (7) and white child Louisa W. Ragan (1). A death certificate for Eliza Wilborn, born 1865, indicated that her parents were Bill Dixson [sic] and Rebecca Ragan. I don’t know where she was in the 1870 census.
William married Fanny Eastwood in Person Co. on 28 Feb 1880. William Dixon (47) was enumerated with wife Fannie (27) in the 1880 census. Fannie was most likely Jerusha Eastwood and I am tentatively placing these individuals together. They were living next door to Jerusha’s sister Nancy (Eastwood) Bowes.
William died intestate about Sept. 1891 in Person Co. Estate papers have been digitized at ancestry.com. John C. Pass was administrator and filed probate on 2 Oct 1891. One of the documents state the only heir was “a son whose name is not known...and...said son is a minor.” Present at the estate sale in 22 Oct 1891 were John Reagan and Lucy Eastwood. Lucy was likely Fannie’s sister or niece (daughter of Jonathan). Mentioned in the final settlement on 13 Jan 1894 were Johnson Eastwood (Fannie’s brother whose given name was Jonathan but who was also known as Johnson) and a Jennie Dixon (given name hard to read).
