- Buried at Bowling family cemetery in Durham Co., NC. Exact dates from findagrave.com, DOB may or may not be accurate as parents married in Aug., 1790. Some pedigrees have a year of 1791. Ages in censuses vary widely.
Willis Bowling was bondsman for the marriage of Martha Wilkerson to Rives Mangum, bond dated 28 Nov 1818 in Granville Co. He attended the estate sale of his wife’s grandfather, David Wilkerson, Sr., in about 1819.
Willis Bowling (26-45) was enumerated in the 1820 Granville Co. (alphabetized) census with 3 males under 10 and wife 16-26.
Willis was one of the witnesses of the will of Nicholas Jones, proved in May Ct. 1830 in Orange Co. (Will Bk E, pp 216-18).
Willis Bowlin (40-50) was enumerated in 1840 Orange Co. with 3 males 20-30, 1 female (20-30) and wife (40-50). Yancy Bowlin was nearby.
Willis was one of the witnesses of the will of Priscilla Carrington, proved in Orange Co., NC, in May Ct. 1844. (Will Bk F, p. 190). She was a neighbor in the 1840 census.
Willis Borland [sic] (59) was enumerated in the 1850 Orange Co., NC, census with Elizabeth (53) and Martha (80) [his mother].
Willis Bowling (65) and Betsie Bowling (50) were enumerated with Yancey Bowling (55) in the 1860 Orange Co. census.
In 1870 Orange Co., Willis Bowling (80) and Elizabeth (72) were enumerated with Puss Jacobs (18). She was possibly related to their next door neighbor, Bedford Jacobs (23).
