    • This John Doughton was recorded in "A monographic study of Joseph Doughton (1 January 1771 - 11 July 1832)," by Thomas E. Doughten, 1973, as this Joseph Doughton's father:

      Franklin Co., VA, Will Bk 1, p. 336. Will. I, John Doughten of F, am weak in body, but of sound mind and disposing memory. First, after my death, all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid by executors.

      To my wife Grace Doughten - her choice of the household & kitchen furniture. I desire that all my provisions that I have laid in for the consumption of my family that is now living with me, shall have the benefit of the same. Also, all my hogs and crop that shall be made on the plantation that I now live on, shall be for their benefit, that is, my wife and my son John Doughten, & my 2 daughters Keziah and Nancy Doughten, and no other of my children of what I have before mentiond. To my son William Doughten and my daughter Mary Forsyth - 6 shillings each, and no more. The rest of my estate to be sold and equally divided between my wife and my several children, namely, my sons Charles, Joseph, and John Doughten, my daughter Jean Armstrong, Keziah & Nancy Doughten. I want my executors to have a wagon finished, which I have begun, as soon as possible, and that my son John to have the use of the wagon on the plantation until the sake of my property.
